Pittsburgh Service Summit

The 4th Annual Pittsburgh Service Summit, coordinated by local non-profit organization Get Involved!, Inc., will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Carlow University from 4:30-8:30pm. The Service Summit brings together hundreds of students, young professionals, and community leaders to learn from keynote speakers about best practices and strategies to make a larger difference in the region. Through the dozens of community vendors who participate, attendees will learn about ways to become more engaged in the city through civic involvement opportunities. Awards are also presented at the event to the annual Get Involved! honorees and the Western PA Rising Stars. For additional details contact Tom Baker at
Close to 400 community leaders and students participated at the 3rd Annual Pittsburgh Service Summit on April 4, 2012 at Carlow University.  Keynote speakers included best selling author John Stahl-Wert, MTV Senior Vice President and filmmaker of "Mr Rogers and Me" Benjamin Wagner, and College Prowler CEO Luke Skurman. The Summit also featured 11 breakout sessions led by young professionals, a performance by Hip Hop On Lock, a two floor vendor area featuring community organizations, and an awards ceremony recognizing the regions most dedicated and passionated leaders.

2012 Western PA Rising Stars

The Rising Star awards are presented annually to 21 local young professionals in the non-profit, business, and governmental sectors who dedicate their time and talent to community organizations and who are making a positive difference. 2011 Service Summit: A crowd of 300+ members of the community took part in the 2011 Get Involved! Pittsburgh Service Summit on January 26, 2011 at Carlow University. The Summit featured excellent speakers including Andrew Stockey, Dr. Mary Hines, Dr. Audrey Murrell, Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak, Bill Flanagan, Chaz Kellem, Tom Basile, and Matt Tomsho. Former Allegheny County Chief Executive Jim Roddey emceed the Get Involved! Awards and Western PA Rising Stars presentation.

The second annual Pittsburgh Service Summit was held on January 26, 2011 at Carlow University from 4-9pm in the Antonian Theatre. A crowd of 350+ participants attended the Summit this year.

Thanks to the 175 participants, speakers, and vendors who participated at the Get Involved! Pittsburgh Service Summit on April 22, 2010. The event featured amazing speakers including Chaz Kellem, Jeff Tobe, Senator John Pippy, Jim Lokay, Councilman Bill Peduto, Lisa Spahr, and Chuck Herring. Two expert panels also presented about Board Service and Non-Profit Leadership. Councilman Peduto led the effort to have April 22nd named as "Get Involved! Service Summit Day" in the City of Pittsburgh. The Service Summit also honored some of the best, brightest, and most passionate leaders in the region.  The event was held at the Union Project in Highland Park.
